Facts:

  • Reading proficiency is foundational to academic and career success

  • 4 out of 5 Black children in the US struggle with reading

  • Waiting for the education system to address the need is not working

  • The only viable near-term solution is for families to take agency and provide the learning experiences their children need to build the foundational skills that empower reading and academic success

  • The Movement can help

There are three stages of development

1. Womb-to-classroom (ages 0-5)

2. Grades K-3

3. 4th grade and above, including adults

There are actions parents can take during each of the stages to help their children build strong skills that empower success.

The Movement focuses on helping students in grades kindergarten through 3rd grade to achieve reading proficiency.

However, we provide guidance on what families can do at home during ages 0-5 to help build foundational skills.

We also work with students in 4th grade and above, including adults, who struggle with reading and learning. Students can also participate in ongoing programs through their Village to advance their skills and prepare for college and career.

More details on the student training is available on the Program page under the About tab in the menu above.

Once families have joined the Movement, they can review the orientation materials in the Knowledge Base which go into greater details on the student training tools and programs.

Welcome email, next steps:

Once a parent or guardian has joined the Movement, you should receive a welcome email with directions on next steps.

One of those steps is to come to this page and provide additional information so we better understand how we can help.

If you have reached this page without joining yet, please click the Join button in the header above to join.

If you have already joined the Movement and want your children to participate in our programs, please fill out and submit the form below.

There are many things families can begin doing immediately at no cost to begin building stronger skills for their children. The orientation page will provide greater details on this information.

We have limited resources and can only support a certain number of students to do the formal online training. We will keep in touch on ways in which you can get your children into the Reading Kingdom program and the Brain Training program.

The training is most successful when supported by a Family Ambassador in a Village near the family. It will take time to build enough Villages. If there is no Village near you currently, please consider helping to start a Village in your community. In the meantime we will work to set you up with a virtual Family Ambassador. You can also consider becoming a Family Ambassador or help us to recruit people you know to help.
